About Us

The Carter Memorial Library in Omro received its name from the memorial fund set up by the Grace Carter estate in 1966. The current facility, located at 405 East Huron Street, was built in 1986. The library is open 47 hours a week and offers youth reading programs throughout the year in the Alder public meeting room. The service area includes the City of Omro, and the six surrounding townships in the Omro School District.

Mission Statement

Carter Memorial Library promotes lifelong learning for our Omro community and surrounding areas by connecting people of all ages, providing education, information, and technology in an atmosphere of respect, safety and accessibility.                                    Adopted June 2018

The library is a member of the Winnefox Library System. In 1999 the library became a member of the Winnefox Automated Library Service (WALS) group. This shared automated system enables the library to deliver fast and complete service to its patrons.
